PUPILS at Ilfracombe Infants and Nursery School sparkle with enthusiasm in an exciting and stimulating learning environment, say education inspectors.Every area of school life is rated as outstanding in the 366-pupil school's latest Ofsted report.The report said the school's academic standards are consistently significantly above average, while all the staff display an excellent commitment to the care and support of every pupil."This is an outstanding school," said the inspectors from the school standards agency. "It provides an excellent education for its pupils in an exciting and stimulating learning environment. The animated responses and excitement generated in lessons illustrate how much pupils enjoy their education and they sparkle with enthusiasm.They are eager to learn because they find the teaching inspiring and exciting."The school has the overwhelming confidence of the community it serves and parents are hugely enthusiastic in their support of the school, said the inspectors.Head teacher Christine Thompson said: "This is a fantastic report that justifiably recognises the strengths of this school. To attain outstanding in all areas is something that the whole school and wider community deserves in recognition for their commitment towards providing an excellent education for our deserving children."Lead inspector Christine Huard praised Mrs Thompson and her deputy Theresa Hodge's excellent leadership."The school's outstanding leadership and management are characterised by shared values and a clear vision for further improvement," she said.She said that to help its continuing improvement the school should ensure parents have sufficient notice of all the activities they can participate in, so they can play a full part in their children's learning.
