Public celebration of life of weatherman Bill Tanton
THE family of renowned North Devon weatherman Bill Tanton have invited all to join them for a public celebration of his life on Sunday, July 26. His children and grandchildren will be holding an afternoon tea at St Giles-in-the-Wood Parish Hall from 2-6pm
THE family of renowned North Devon weatherman Bill Tanton have invited all to join them for a public celebration of his life on Sunday, July 26.
His children and grandchildren will be holding an afternoon tea at St Giles-in-the-Wood Parish Hall from 2-6pm to celebrate and remember the former councillor and amateur forecaster, who passed away in January this year, aged 81.
The would be delighted to see any who wish to go along and during the afternoon a memorial bench and tree in his memory will be placed in the playing field next to the hall.
Mr Tanton's local political career spanned 35 years, including many years as a Torridge district councillor and he was chairman of the council in 1980 and 1981.

In later years he was well known for his weather predictions, using traditional forecasting methods. He once said his forecasts had an 80 per cent accuracy rate.
