AN exhibition of the work of local artist Michael Cullimore is at the Burton Art Gallery in Bideford from now until May 11.Michael, who works from his studio above the Torridge estuary in Bideford, is as prolific an artist now as he has been throughout his significant career.Working mainly in watercolours, much of his current work draws on his long-standing interests in poetry, mythology, the world of dreams and the creation of fantasy landscapes, as well as depicting real, discovered objects, such as bones, skulls, shells and pebbles. He also paints real places, including the chalk downs of Dorset and Wiltshire, the woods of the Surrey hills and also Italy, France, Austria and Hong Kong. With Cullimore's paintings there is always more than one message to be interpreted.
