Royal visitor will be making a whistlestop tour of North Devon on September 29.

Prince Edward will be visiting North Devon on September 29 to open the new chemotherapy unit amid a busy tour of the region.

HRH the Earl of Wessex is to visit Swimbridge, to open the new Jubilee Hall and pay a visit to the Streamside Garden Project.

Then it will be off to see the Royal Wessex Yeomanry at Barnstaple Territorial Army Centre, before conducting the official opening of the new Seymour Unit.

He will also visit West Buckland School and Bideford Air Cadets.

Ian Roome, fundraising manager for the hospital charity, said he was delighted by the visit: "It will be a fantastic accolade for our community that a member of the Royal family will be coming here. Prince Edward will meet patients, hospital staff, builders, fundraisers and volunteers who played a major part in making the unit a reality."
