Pupils from Orchard Vale Primary School raised £475.50 for Childrens Hospice South West by taking on the Exmoor Youth Challenge. The arduous challenge tested the two teams from Orchard Vale, who conducted a 16-mile unaided walk across the moor. The teams each consisted of four youngsters, who had to follow the unmarked route by following instructions and reading maps and compasses. There were a series of check-points along the route and each leg had to be completed in a pre-determined time. Only those who successfully completed the event are presented with a medal and the Vale teams had no problem there. The Orchard Vale pupils put in a great performance, with their teams finishing eighth and 13th overall out of 143 competing teams.
