A NEW composition by South Molton Town Band's musical director is set to be premiered in London next month.Terry Treherne's Concertante for Euphonium will be performed alongside masterpieces by Mendelssohn and Bizet by the City of London Winds, at St Paul's, Covent Garden, on February 10.The major piece of work by the composer and conductor is described as "a beautiful pastoral, single movement work," by soloist Charley Brighton, for whom the music was specially written."It will be quite a thrill for me to hear the piece performed for the first time," said Mr Treherne, who joined South Molton Town Band as musical director 18 months ago.The band, which is now looking ahead to a major contest being held in Torquay in March, practises on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-10pm each week and currently has a number of vacancies for musicians."We are looking for bass trombone, cornet, second euphonium and horn players, as well as percussionists," said Mr Treherne.For more information, telephone Terry Treherne on (01392) 873872.
