The Post Office is launching a consultation tomorrow (Wednesday) to close its Boutport Street branch and relocate to High Street shop.
A six-week consultation is beginning today on plans to close Barnstaple’s Post Office and move it into the High Street.
The proposals are to relocate the branch, currently in Boutport Street, into the WHSmith’s store at 76 High Street, in September.
The existing branch team will move to the new site, which would have four serving postitions and two self-service kiosks.
The Post Office is inviting customers to give their comments on the proposed move in a public consultation that starts tomorrow (Wednesday).
Roger Gale, general manager of the Post Office Crown network, said: “We are committed to keeping our services on the high street which we know is hugely important to people.
“Our collaboration with WHSmith helps secure the long-term viability of services for local customers. We are making sure we take the right course of action to sustain services for years to come.”
Mr Gale said the move was adapting to the changing needs of customers who ‘want a more convenient and flexible choice’.
The consultation will run until June 15.
