Police officers warn pet owners to remain vigilent after meat with blue pellets in found in Sticklepath area.

Police are warning cat and dog owners to remain vigilent after a suspected poisoning incident.

Barnstaple police said a Sticklepat resident reported their cat and two others, belonging to neighbours, were poisoned.

A police spokesman said: "It appears that pieces of meat with blue pellets in them are being left in the area.

"It is possible that the blue pellets are rat poison. Luckily the cats in question are recovering.

"This matter is also being reported to the RSPCA who would be the lead agency should any fatalities occur."

Police thanked the resident for raising the issue and asked cat and dog owners to keep a close eye on their pets.

Anyone concerned about their animal or any animal cruelty incident should contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
