After last week’s dramatic armed robbery at Coopers, officers spotted searching through bushes in town
Police are thought to be searching bushes in Barnstaple today (Thursday) in connection with last week’s attempted armed robbery on Coopers Jewellery.
Officers are currently carrying out what appears to be a fingertip search of vegetation on the roundabout at the junction of Alexandra road and Vicarage Street.
The police press office was unable to confirm if the activity was indeed connected to the alleged raid on the High Street premises.
It saw 71-year-old shop owner David Bruce chase away the latex-masked thief after hitting him with a baseball bat.
The man had been carrying a pistol and fired it in the shop.
Police have urged the public to be vigilant and have asked anyone who finds the alleged raider’s discarded latex mask, gun or any items of discarded clothing in Barnstaple or the surrounding area to call 101, quoting log 0491 of May 28.
