The operation resulted in 10 alcohol seizures and more than 25 people being stopped and searched in Bideford.

BIDEFORD’S neighbourhood policing team has completed a three-week multi-agency operation to combat street drinking and drug use in the town.

Officers took to the streets in plain clothes and high visibility uniform to patrol the town centre during Operation Intensive.

Overall, there were 10 alcohol seizures made and more than 25 stop searches.

One person was warned for possessing drugs, and three people were dispersed from the town using a Section 27 Dispersal Order.

Safer North Devon also canvassed members of the public regarding the perceptions of the town, crime and anti-social behaviour.

A spokesman said: “Very positive feedback was received about the town; the majority of people polled felt safe when visiting the town centre.

“However a small minority voiced concerns which the neighbourhood team have taken on board and are addressing.”

Anyone with any concerns is urged to contact their local policing team using non-emergency number 101 or visit www.devon-cornwall.police.uk to find direct contact details.
