POLICE in North Devon are offering motorists who have tinted windows in their vehicles another chance of amnesty. They are offering to check vehicles using the latest Tintmaster equipment at Barnstaple Civic Centre car park on Sunday, March 1, between 10am and 4pmOfficers will be on hand to check vehicle windows for legality and give advice to any drivers whose glass is found to be too heavily tinted. They will not be prosecuted on this occassion."Following the success of previous such initiatives,we want to give drivers another opportunity to have their windows checked," said PC Nick Porter the Road Casualty Reduction Officer for North Devon."The laws apply to the windscreen and front side windows and we would urge anyone with non-standard tint on their glass to take advantage of these free checks. There have been serious collisions caused as a result of drivers not having proper visibility due to heavily tinted windows, so there is an important road safety message behind this.
