Police name dead man

Hartland Quay body identified

POLICE have named the man whose body was found near Life Rock at Hartland Quay on Friday. He was Jonathan Staines, a 36-year-old local men who was a member of the Clovelly Lifeboat crew.

Mr Staines was reported missing on Thursday evening of last week when he failed to return from a walk. A full-scale air and sea search was launched. It resumed at first light on Friday and a body was discovered in the Hartland Quay area at 2pm that day.

A police spokesman said: “The circumstances of his death are being investigated, but it appears to be a tragic accident.”
