Police investigating the burglary at Sue’s of Combe Martin are exploring a possible link to a very similar offence in Budleigh Salterton.

A 50-year-old male from Exeter has been arrested and charged for the offence on a Spar shop in Budleigh Salterton on September 1.

Police believe this could be linked to the story of the buglary on the Combe Martin shop, broken by the Gazette, when police went to the wrong town. They were sent to Ilfracombe – five miles away from the incident. An investigation into the mix-up has now been completed.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are still appealing for any information related to the Combe Martin burglary. Anyone with information should call 101 and quote CI/13/828.
