Police confirmed they are investigating reports of a burglary at a garage in Holsworthy after a 4x4 vehicle was found on fire this morning (Wednesday).

Police are investigating after a 4x4 was stolen from a Holsworthy garage and later found set on fire.

Officers were notified to a vehicle on fire in a lane on Brandis Corner in Holsworthy this morning (Wednesday) at around 3.30am.

Fire fighters from Holsworthy were also mobilised after a resident had been woken up by a car alarm and discovered the vehicle on fire.

A fire service spokesman said: “Crews have now confirmed that the quantity of foam was small and there was no environmental impact.

“Crews also confirmed that this was a stolen vehicle, maliciously set light to and abandoned.

“The fire was extinguished using concentrated foam, two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and small tools.

“The vehicle was 100 per cent severely damaged by the fire. The police are on scene and dealing with this.”

Police said the 4x4 was taken during a burglarly reported at BP Bodyworks at Dunsland Cross.

The premises had been broken into and a mobile phone, a safe and a laptop were also stolen.

This is currently under investigation and enquiries are ongoing.
