A man is in a critical condition in hospital with lacerations to his throat after a domestic incident in Braunton yesterday (Friday).

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Dyers Close in Braunton at about 3.10pm yesterday (Friday) after reports that a man and woman, both aged in their 40s, had been hurt.

Armed officers attended the scene where they removed a crossbow which was believed to have been used in the incident.

The man was taken by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

He was confirmed to have lacerations to his throat.

The woman was also taken to North Devon District Hospital with a leg injury but has since been released.

North Devon chief inspector Ali Lander said cordons remained in place at the property in Dyers Close.

She said it was an isolated incident and noone else was being sought by officers.

She said: “We want to thank the public for their patience.

“If anyone has any information that will assist us in our investigation then we would ask them to get in touch.

“We want to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident. There is no risk to any members of the public.”
