Police crackdown on shoplifters

Police are targeting shoplifters in Barnstaple in the run-up to Christmas

OFFICERS from Barnstaple local policing team are carrying out a series of pre-Christmas initiatives in the town centre to cut down on shoplifting.

During the first one, four people were arrested, three of whom were charged with shoplifting and the fourth released on bail.

The initiative aims to provide re-assurance to local businesses that shoplifting will be taken seriously. It has been organised by PC James Rees.
