Incident took place in Trinity Street on August 11

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was bitten by a dog in Barnstaple.

The man was walking along the pavement in Trinity Street between 5.45-6pm on Tuesday, August 11. The dark mastiff-type dog was on a lead and lunged at him, biting his left arm and causing injuries.

The dog owner was talking to another person at the time, and is described as about 5’8” tall and in his 50s.
