Police are appealing after two men wearing balaclavas broke into a cottage and tied up two holiday-makers.
The incident took place at a cottage in Welcombe, Torridge between 9-10pm on Saturday, September 15.
Detective Constable Ben Cartwright, from Bideford CID, said: “Two black men wearing balaclavas, with regional accents from the West Midlands, forced entry into a house whilst armed.
“The occupants were holiday-makers visiting the area from Hampshire.
“They were tied up and assaulted before the suspects stole phones and cash before fleeing the area.
“We are currently of the belief that this was a case of mistaken identity and the wrong property and people were targeted by these two individuals.
“Thankfully the victims were not seriously hurt, but understandably shaken up by the experience.”
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone whom has any knowledge of this matter to come forward.
