The 26-year-old had been visiting the area on a stag party.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted outside an Ilfracombe pub.

The incident occurred shortly before 10pm outside the Ship and Pilot in Broad Street on August 28.

A 26-year-old, who was visiting the area as part of a stag group, was punched by another man.

He sustained injuries to the back of his head after falling onto the curb.

North Devon Sector Inspector Roger Bartlett Roger Bartlett, said: "This is an example - fortunately not a serious one - of how one punch can lead to a serious injury and in many cases can either change people's lives or lead to loss of life.

"This male hit his head on curb having been punched. Fortunately he is making a good recovery after significant blood loss."

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call police 101, quoting the incident number 60329.
