‘Platinum Award’ for North Devon Council

NORTH Devon Council has been recognised as a best practice employer, after gaining a “platinum” award.

The authority has been given the top Platinum Accreditation with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA.) It follows the council’s success in securing a standard accreditation in 2008.

“This is great news for our team here at the council, in recognition of their excellent working practices and the development scheme they have in place for staff,” said Council Leader, Councillor Brian Greenslade.

Steve Hearse, head of financial services, added: “This has been awarded to us as a best practice employer, which reflects our commitment to staff training. It also recognises how we have implemented an internal staff scheme that continues to develop our officers, to help motivate and engage them, while building on their skills.”

There are other benefits in receiving the accreditation including support from CIPFA’s Employer Relations team, exemptions from supplying working papers for staff development submissions and reduced rates for specific training, which the council says all help to save time and money.
