BEDDING plants, shrubs, vegetable and fruit plants will be in abundance at an annual charity plant sale being held on behalf of Cancer Research UK on Saturday. Both gardening enthusiasts and budding gardeners will find something of interest at St John's Community Centre, Barnstaple, from 8.30am to 1pm."The plant sale is one of our main fund-raising events," explained Barbara Lunt, chairman of the Barnstaple branch of Cancer Research UK. "Because we sell at extremely competitive prices, the sale is very popular and we have people arriving early to get the pick of the crop, so to speak."Most of our plants are home grown by our committee members, who are all dedicated gardeners, and we also receive a lot of plants and shrubs from supporters of Cancer Research - and for that we are most grateful. "There will be a wide variety of plants to choose from and, as well as the usual favourites, we also have some unusual specimens on sale."For further information, or if you have any plants or shrubs you can donate to this event, please telephone (01271) 378776.
