Entrance to shopping centre could be drastically modernised if owners’ plans are given the green light

The owners of Green Lanes shopping centre in Barnstaple have unveiled ambitious plans to transform its entrance.

Rockspring Property Investment Managers bought the town's shopping centre last year, and intend to submit their plans to North Devon Council soon.

The new lower High Street entrance would take on a modern new look and would include new lighting, canopy and signage, plus a coffee shop on the corner of Joy Street.

In a statement, Rockspring said: "Rockspring have been working diligently on plans to improve the quality of Green Lanes and ensure it continues to be an important contributor to Barnstaple's town centre.

"Part of this is providing the presence and entrance experience that modern retailers require.

"The entrance improvements are aimed at attracting and retaining the best retailers for the town centre to maintain and enhance Barnstaple's strong retail core.

"The new entrance will serve as a marker of the quality of shopping in Barnstaple and a new canopy, lighting and signage will help to create this modern feeling."

The plans are currently open to a public consultation. You can have your say by emailing info@greenlanes.co.uk
