Residents have called a meeting at Pilton Parish Hall on Friday (November 6)

Pilton residents fearing for the future of the Mannings Pit beauty spot after it was sold at auction have called a public meeting.

At auction last week it is understood that a buyer bought it for £250,000, together with an adjacent field located behind Yoiungs Drive, for £310,000.

The gently sloping Mannings Pit meadow land covers almost 22 acres and has the Braddiford Water stream running through it.

There was anger among the community when they learned it was to be sold, with many saying they had grown up playing there and the area was enjoyed by people of all ages.

The Friends of Manning’s Pit is holding a meeting to discuss the implications this Friday at Pilton Parish Hall from 7.30pm.
