Fire fighters received numerous calls last night after a fire broke out in a compound in Roundswell, Barnstaple.
Fire fighters were called out to reports of loud bangs and explosions in Roundswell last night (Friday).
Three fire crews from Barnstaple were mobilised to the Western Truck Rental compound on Gratton Way where they found four vans involved in a fire at 11.30pm.
Police were quickly on scene as fire fighters used hose reel jets, a main jet and hydraulic cutting equipment to fight the blaze.
By midnight breathing apparatus was in use to make progress trying to put out the flames.
By 12.30am breathing apparatus was reduced as crews continued to dampen down the vehicles.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service said they believed the fire was started accidentally.
Police have not yet logged the incident but anyone with any information can call the non-emergency number on 101.
