There were mince pies and mead at the annual Bideford Town Council lease signing ceremony this weekend.
Bideford town councillors donned their formalwear for the ceremonial signing of the lease at the pannier market.
On Sunday the mayor and town crier led the symbollic occasion.
It marks the occasion of the day that Torridge District Council handed over the the 99 year lease to Bideford Town Council for the Pannier Market – for the princely annual fee of £1.
The mayor, town clerk and councillors led a procession from the town hall, up the hill and to the market where they served mead and mince pies to traders and visitors.
