Dozens of people joined together to lobby in Bideford and show ‘refugees are welcome’.
Dozens of protestors rallied in Bideford on Saturday to show their support for refugees fleeing Syria.
Around 40 people gathered outside Torridge District Council’s offices at Riverbank House at midday on Saturday.
They carried placards and lobbied outside to show their support for refugees.
The group then made its way through the town to rally outside of MP Geoffrey Cox’s office.
Organiser Adam Crowther posted on Facebook after the rally: “Amazing turnout for an amazing cause, with ‘Open Hearts, Open Borders, refugees welcome here!’ ringing through the town.
“I am very proud to say I was a part of this.
“A massive congratulations and thank you to everyone who made today’s march such a massive success.
“Despite a few words and the actions of a very small minority, the overall atmosphere of peace, happiness and acceptance was unbelievable, and shows that people in this area really do care.”
