North Devon businesses led the way in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards last night (Thursday).
The awards saw 135 trophies handed out, from a record 605 entries.
It was a double win for Kentisbury Grange, which won gold in the small hotel/ boutique accommodation of the year, and gold for best restaurant/bistro of the year with The Coach House.
Longlands, near Combe Martin, also took gold for the glamping business of the year.
Hele Valley Holiday Park won silver for the holiday park and village of the year, and The Milky Way won silver for best large attraction of the year.
Highbullen Hotel Golf and Country Club won bronze for the best self catering holiday provider of the year.
Robin Barker, of Services for Tourism, said: “Excellence is elusive. It takes creativity, commitment, investment, and persistence to achieve.
“Standards have to be maintained for every guest, in all situations, at all hours of every day.
“Achieving excellence is one thing, maintaining it in a world of ever-rising expectations is an even greater challenge.
