Work on a £10.8million construction at Petroc is coming along quickly.

The new lifestyle building, at the front of the college in Sticklepath, Barnstaple, is starting to take shape as steel framework is put in place.

Groundworks on the building, which will include new health and beauty facilities, a restaurant, catering facilities and state-of-the-art classrooms, began in June.

Neil Hookway, director of resources, said: "The new lifestyle building will be ready in February 2016.

"Once the steel work is complete, the roof and cladding will be going on, and that's when it will really take shape quite quickly."

In September, the brand new engineering building will be opening to students for the first time.

The building, constructed over the summer, includes state-of-the art technology and an open, glass-fronted entrance.

Neil added: "The engineering students have gone from having one of the oldest buildings - a 1950s structure - to the newest on the campus."

Funding for the build was secured in November 2013 from the College Capital Investment Fund.
