The event dedicated to all the emergency services saw the pier packed with police, fire, ambulance, RNLI, coastguard, Exmoor Search and Rescue and many more. Organiser Marnie Quy of Events4Ilfracombe said the gate appeared to have been as successful as previous years. There was certainly a lot of people there when the helicopter came, she said. Chivenor put on a really good show, doing barrel rolls over the crowd and the crew leaning out and waving. Thank you to all those from the services and all our volunteers who gave up their own time to once again make the event a success. Proceeds from the day will go to the RNLI. It is the final appearance by the Sea King of RMB Chivenor, which is being decomissioned this autumn as the service is privatised and moved to a new base in South Wales.
