Food fans have been making a beeline to Barnstaple Pannier Market today (Sunday) for the return of the North Devon Foodfest. Thousands flocked to the market for the eighth instalment of the popular event a showcase for the regions finest independent food and drink producers. More than 10,000 visitors attended last years event and early indications suggest todays event will be just as successful. Beth Newsome, of Seadog Foods, said it was the companys third Foodfest: Its great today; there are lots of people and lots of producers its good to see. Ive seen a lot of local faces I recognise; everyone is keen to come out and try local produce. As well as all kinds of produce, from cheese and chocolates to meats and wine, local chefs are holding live cookery demonstrations on the Queens Theatre stage. Among them was Mark Dodson of The Mason Arms at Knowstone, who has this month retained his Michelin Star for the eleventh consecutive year. There is still time to enjoy whats on offer Foodfest is due to close at 3.30pm today.
