Pupils enjoy meeting unusual creatures to help inspire their English lessons

Exotic visitors slithered, crawled and slimed their way into Ilfracombe Junior School on Friday to meet Year 5 pupils.

Snakes, lizards, insects and snails were among the rare animals were brought in by Kim Insull of Really Wild Learning.

The pupils were able to learn more about the exotic creatures and also to meet them up-close.

Class 5CN teacher Caroline Nutting said: "We are using it as a stimulus for their writing as part of our 'extreme animals' English topic, so it's brilliant for them to have first hand experience.

"We will be writing about how these animals have adapted to live in their environment and we are going to be writing our own information text about an extreme animals of our choice."
