Some keen shoppers camped out overnight to be among the first to enter the brand new Aldi store in Bideford this morning (Thursday).

The first Aldi store in North Devon and Torridge has opened in Bideford today (Thursday).

Hundreds of people queued in the drizzle for hours to be one of the first people through the door.

One person had been waiting since 10pm last night, some 10 hours before the store's opening at 8am today.

The first 100 shoppers were welcomed with a golden ticket, each containing a prize.

One lucky person one a HD television, with others winning prizes ranging from hampers to goodie bags.

After store manager Ryan Lewis cut the red ribbon, shoppers flooded into the store, welcomed by music and an arch of balloons.

The store is open Monday-Saturday from 8am-10pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.
