Dozens of people lined Appledore Quay to see who could catch the most crabs in annual competition.

Dozens of people turned out to the annual Appledore World Crabbing Championship on Friday.

Keen crab-catchers lined the Quay, armed with their bait of choice to lure in the crustaceans.

The Ayres Team won the competition for the second year in a row, claiming 79 crabs.

The event takes place each year as part of the Appledore and Instow Regatta programme.

Peter Reveley, Appledore and Instow Regatta secretary, said: "I think once you've got the right bait teams can go on to win it several years in a row.

"It was an excellent turnout with lots of visitors and the regatta has gone very well this year."
