Tweed, penny farthings and genteel conversing was the order of the day as the first Velo Vintage event is held in Barnstaple.

The bygone days of cycling descended upon Barnstaple in genteel style on Saturday as the town hosted the first ever Velo Vintage event in North Devon.

The aim of the day's ride was to take 'time to cycle, take tea, converse and dress with style' and that was certainly what happened.

Participants came from as far afield as London and there was an impressive display of vintage cycles as well as plenty of tweed, tartan and stylish costume for onlookers to admire.

Organisers Alistair and Sebastian Cope have held six Velo Vintage events in East Devon and are now keen to make them an annual event in Barnstaple.
