Crowds were treated to a giant charity bonfire and spectacular fireworks display in Torrington last night (Saturday).

Huge crowds gathered on Torrington Commons last night (Saturday) to watch a giant charity bonfire.

The replica Trumpton village, based on the 1970s television programme, went up in flames.

The evening included entertainment from The Plough youth theatre and a 'special episode' of Trumpton on the large screens.

The bonfire was a culmination of nearly two years's planning and construction by the Torrington Cavaliers.

Before and after the bonfire the sky was lit with a fireworks display, with plenty of 'oohs' and 'aahs' from the crowd.

The event was raising money for Macmillan and The Plough Arts Centre.
