Permission sought for 28 new homes at Barnstaple development
Plans have been submitted for the second phase of a new housing development off Goodleigh Road in Barnstaple.
Wainhomes (South West) Holdings Ltd is seeking permission to build 28 two, three and four-bedroom homes at Goodleigh Rise.
The company is currently building 51 new homes to the west of the site, a scheme granted planning consent in January 2014.
Permission for an original proposal of 182 homes across the two sites was refused at appeal in 2013.
At the time, Government planning inspector Jessica Graham dismissed the appeal due to access and concern over the development’s impact on the surrounding area, including Wellclose House, Gorwell House and Tollgate Cottage.
Access to the new scheme would be through phase one of the development.
In November last year, Taylor Wimpey UK Ltd’s plans for up to 100 homes on the opposite side of Goodleigh Road were refused by North Devon Council.
Members of the public have until January 5 to comment on the plans.
