A man has died after being hit by a train between Barnstaple and Exeter last night (Friday).
British Transport Police for Devon and Cornwall reported the incident at around 9.40pm.
Train services between Barnstaple and Exeter were cancelled all evening while police and paramedics attended the scene.
British Transport Police has since confirmed a man has died after being struck by a train at Crediton Railway Station.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Last night BTP Devon and Cornwall said on Twitter: “We’re on scene following reports of a person having been struck by a train between #ExeterStDavids and #Barnstaple.
“Disruption to @GWRHelp services through the area is expected until the end of the day.”
It is understood passengers on the train were put into taxis. Normal services has resumed today.
National Rail has advised anyone affected by the incident can call the Samaritans, 24/7, on 116 123 in confidence.
