A popular footpath and cycleway between Ilfracombe and Mortehoe has been revamped in time for the main holiday season. The former Ilfracombe to Barnstaple railway line is part of the National Cycle Network and has been widened by Devon County Council following a £65,000 improvement scheme. The work covered from Station Road in Ilfracombe, to Lee Bridge in Mortehoe, with the trackway widened to three metres and resurfaced using recycled road planings. Drainage has also been improved."I know local residents were concerned about the condition of the surface and have been eagerly awaiting these improvements," said Ilfracombe county councillor Geoff Fowler."The link now provides a pleasant and healthy walking and cycling opportunity for both local people and holiday makers to enjoy. "It is also another tourist attraction for Ilfracombe.
