Parkham Primary School pupils wished their teacher a very happy retirement on Friday by giving her a send-off shell never forget on the Big Sheeps newly-named rollercoaster. Nesta Blaine has been crowned the teacher with the biggest heart in a competition run by the Bideford attraction and Heart FM. The competition attracted more than 30 entries from all over North Devon and was judged by Heart presenters Matt and Caroline, Big Sheep owner Rick Turner, Ali Hunt from North Devon Hospice and Gazette editor Andy Keeble. Mrs Blaines entry read: Mrs Blaine is always so happy and makes me smile when I feel sad. She teaches us lots of fun things and helps me when my Erbs palsy tries to stop me. Im really sad that she is leaving school to retire and I would love to go and have a fun day with her and the whole school. Mrs Blaine, along with some 40 children from Parkham, enjoyed a day out at the Big Sheep on Friday and were the first to ride the rollercoaster following its official naming ceremony. Big Sheep fans were asked to suggest names for the 28-seater ride, which opened at Easter and is thought to be the largest and most expensive ever installed in the South West. The most popular suggestion was Rampage.Click here to return to our homepage for more North Devon news.
