A group of Park Community School pupils are flying. to Uganda for the first time in memory of their teacher.Sara Bluett was a strong supporter of the charity Amigos before her death in a car accident on the A39 on March 25, 2013. After her death, Park pupils and staff carried out fundraising in her honour, and Amigos also planted a tree at its flagship Kira Farm Training Centre in Uganda. Today (Friday) pupils Gary Ratcliffe, James Sahim, Libby Smith, Heather Warner, Nicola Duncan, Jack Tighe and Ben Clarke and teachers Gary Ratcliffe and Sarah Wadham will travel to Uganda. Mr Ratcliffe said: This is the first time our school has been out to Uganda and were hoping it will be a project we can run every two years. A plaque has been made in our technology department - which was Saras department - which we will place by her tree when were there. It will be something we can visit every time we go. During their stay the group will also learn about life in Uganda, spend time with students at Kira Farm and help to build water jars in the community. Each student had to raise £1,700 for the trip and will become an ambassador for Amigos at the school on their return.
