A group of farming friends from the Barnstaple area have been baring all for a good cause.Called The Musketeers, they have produced a risque calendar for 2009, which they hope will raise £8,000 for North Devon Hospice. The Musketeers began fund-raising in 19996 when they discovered that three of their number had been diagnosed with different forms of cancer."We started off by arranging a head shave and a draw in our local pub," said spokeswoman Julie Williams."Because we were so well supported we thought we would tackle something larger and raised more than £6,000 with an auction."We have organised many events since then and hope by the end of this year to have raised well over £45,000 for various charities.Julie said the group had discussed the prospect of producing a Calendar Girls'-style calendar while one of their members, Michael Grigg, was still alive."This year, we finally decided to do it in his memory and asked Torrington photographer Jayne Poole to take the pictures," Julie said. "She was exceptional.""We received sponsorship from 11 firms and the calendar has been produced by Torrilitho Printers with help from Big Dog Designs. The calendar shows members of the group hiding their blushes behind various agricultural implements, including tractors, ride-on mowers, a milking parlour, a maize drill and bales of straw."It was a bit chilly, but it could have been worse," Julie said.Award winning photographer Jayne Poole said: "I'm more used to taking pictures of people with their clothes on, but it was great fun."TO order a copy of the Musketeers' Calendar, contact Julie Williams at Higher Rolleston Far, Harracott EX31 3JF or by email: julie@may4477.orangehome.co.uk.Copies will cost £8 plus postage.
