Opening of new Ilfracombe play area

THE new play area at Oxford Park in Ilfracombe was officially opened on Friday by Devon County Council chairman Christine Marsh.

The park has been refurbished with new equipment to the tune of 47,000 thanks to grants of 35,000 and 12,000 from the county and North Devon councils.

It has been made possible through the efforts the Junior Citizen group from Ilfracombe College and the Town Council plus Transform.

Working with Town Warden Trish White, the young people have been hugely involved in the project from the start.

The revamp includes exercise equipment, a nest swing, seesaw, a rotary flyer, games court, seating and dog exercise area.
