Appledore's annual RNLI Lifeboat Open Day will take place on Bank Holiday Monday (August 25) from 10am until 4pm. The event gives people the chance to meet and talk to the volunteer lifeboat crew, who provide the vital lifesaving service from Appledore.

Appledore's annual RNLI Lifeboat Open Day will take place on Bank Holiday Monday (August 25) from 10am until 4pm. The event gives people the chance to meet and talk to the volunteer lifeboat crew, who provide the vital lifesaving service from Appledore.The Inshore Atlantic 75 Lifeboat Douglas Paley and the all-weather Tyne Class Lifeboat George Gibson will be available for people to see up close, along with the kit and operational equipment the crew use. Free goodie bags will be available while stocks last and there is the chance to meet Stormy Stan in the afternoon. Rescue demonstrations will take place at lunchtime.There will also be souvenirs available along with cream teas and other refreshments. Model boats made by an ex-lifeboatman will be on display.Keith Wilson, Appledore lifeboat station's mechanic is looking forward to the action packed day, he says: 'Lifeboat day in Appledore is always a fun filled family event, it's a great opportunity for the crew to meet the people who support them.
