SIR - It is with regret that I let your readers know of the sad death of Onny, the Allhalland Street lovely tabby cat.

Sadly Onny was not in the best of health and was 19 years old when attacked by a Staffordhsire terrier dog whilst he was asleep in the sun on the cobbles in Chapel Street. He died in Shelia's arms a few minutes later. It was a horrible way for him to die, through a very careless dog owner whose dog was not on a lead or under control.

Onny was loved by many people who would pet him in the street, and would look for him in the shop windows where he would be asleep. He will be missed by us all especially Shelia and Bernard who mainly cared for him in his later years. Onnie was a free spirit who came and went when the fancy took. God bless you Onny it was a pleasure to have known you.
