Olympic stewards wanted

A village in North Devon is seeking stewards to help with the Olympic Torch Relay.

STEWARDS are being sought to assist with the Olympic Torch Relay through Braunton in May.

Councillor Marguerite Shapland, chair of Braunton Parish Council, said at the council meeting last week: “Stewards are needed to keep people off of the roads at the torch passes through and to help provide information.”

The council will also be holding a meeting on Tuesday to speak to the public and local organisations about upcoming events to mark the Jubilee and Olympic Torch Relay.

Any volunteers who wish to help during the relay can contact the Tracey Weaver, the parish clerk on tracey.weaver@northdevon.gov.uk or 01271 812131.
