A nurse is taking part in a sponsored walk in aid of Parkinson's UK in memory of her parents who both died of the disease.

Alison Scott, 48, will take part in Walk for Parkinson's at Arlington Court on Sunday May 7.

Alison, a school nurse from Dudley will walk five miles in memory of her parents, and has chosen this location as it holds fond childhood holiday memories.

Alison's mum Betty was diagnosed aged 53, and died at the age of 65. Her dad, Richard, was diagnosed at 76-years-old, and died four years later.

She said: "I am really looking forward to the personal challenge of completing the walk especially as it is in memory of my mum and dad.

"It would have been their 60th wedding anniversary this year and I wanted to commemorate the day somehow as sadly they are no longer here."

Dave Clark, UK Parkinson's walk champion and Sky Sports presenter, added: "Thank you to Alison for stepping up for Parkinson's UK.

"In 2016 I completed my own 200 mile walk coast to coast walk for Parkinson's UK it was tough but the sense of achievement when I crossed the line was fantastic."

Alison's aim is to raise more than £250 for Parkinson's UK to donate visit her online sponsorship page www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Alison-Scott15
