Johns of Instow hosted an open day yesterday (Thursday) with foodie delights and a guest appearance from a familiar face.

A new Instow cafe is hosted an open day yesterday (Thursday) which has seen people brimming out the door.

The star of the event at Johns of Instow is the revival of a vintage tricycle once used to sell ice-cream on the beach.

Michael Johns, the former owner of John’s and father of current owner Anthony Johns, has been scooping up Devon delights for customers.

Michael used to sell ice-creams from the tricycle when he ran Johns in the 1960s.

Anthony and his wife Sue have also invited a host of local producers to come and talk to customers and give out samples.

Sue said: “It’s been lovely to see new and old faces pop in and it has been much busier then we expected.

“To have all the producers here as well, it’s just been brilliant.”
