Northam Lodge checks out big Asda cheque

Northam Lodge has spent the last year in an enjoyable and profitable relationship with Asda after having been chosen as the Bideford store’s charity of the year 2010/2011.

It has resulted in 4,990 being raised for the charity through a series of events, including quiz nights, in-store events, a television raffle, a collecting day at the store and buckets on the tills.

The main event was a triathlon with entrants swimming, running and cycling their way from the Torridge Pool to the old Bideford Railway Station and then to the Royal Hotel for refreshments and prize giving.

Northam Lodge fund raising and publicity assistant Annabel Cope said: “It has been a great privilege to work with Peter Wilcox, Asda’s community colleague, and enormous thanks must go to every single member of staff at the store who helped raise this tremendous amount, all of which will go directly to the residents of Northam Lodge.”

Northam Lodge is a charity based in Heywood Road, Northam, which offers services to people who have learning and physical disabilities.
