North Devon is set to be lashed by wind and rain later today (Friday).

A yellow weather warning is in place across the region from 1pm until midnight today.

The Met Office is forecasting a band of heavy rain, with 15-25mm falling widely and chances of up to 50mm on higher ground.

“This will be in addition to other spells of heavy rain earlier in the week affecting a similar area,” said a Met Office spokesman.

“Rain will be accompanied by strong winds with gusts of 50mph possible inland and perhaps 60mph around some coasts.”

Anyone wanting to watch the waves is urged to stay safe and keep their distance.
