Heavy rain could be coming in over North Devon this afternoon (Tuesday) with a weather warning in place from 3pm.

The Met Office is forecasting heavy showers for North Devon this afternoon and into this evening.

A yellow weather warning is in place, with flooding possible as well as some interruption to power supplies and services.

A chief forecaster said: “Heavy showers will develop through Tuesday afternoon, perhaps becoming more persistent in places later.

“Whilst not everywhere will see showers, some places may see 10-15 mm of rain fall within an hour, with 25 mm possibly falling very locally in three-to-six hours.

“As the ground in these areas is already near saturated, this rainfall brings an increased risk of flooding.

“Lightning may be an additional hazard.”
